When the first thing we need to do is STOP...

This week I've been reading the following quote in my yoga classes, and it's resonating with a lot of people.  It's certainly been meaningful for me lately.  I first heard this quote some time ago, but it wasn't until a few weeks ago, about two hours into a road trip, that I truly started to understand what it means.  It means STOP.  I almost never stop.  My life is full of distractions, and, frankly, I wouldn't want to give up most of those distractions.  But there is value in truly stopping, for a significant period of time, whether it's down time at home, taking a trip, whatever it means to you.  I hope this quote inspires you to take that time.

"When we find ourselves devoid of passion and purpose, the first thing we need to do is stop.  But that's not easy.  The rest of the world is zooming by at full speed.  Left alone with ourselves, without a project to occupy us, we can become nervous and self-critical about what we should be doing and feeling.  This can be so uncomfortable that we look for any distraction rather than allowing ourselves the space to be as we are."          ~ Dawna Markova

Some Inspiration to Get You Moving

One of my favorite quotes continually inspires me to get to my mat, put on my running shoes, or walk my favorite dog around the lake near my house.  I got this out of a letter to the editor in Runner's World magazine several years ago.  (I've not been able to find who said it first.)

"There will come a day when you can no longer do this.  Today is not that day."

I hope it helps get you moving too :)

Namaste,
